Diagnostic Ultrasound

diagnostic-ultrasound

At The Vein Center, we offer modern, state-of-the-art diagnostic technology to help get the best idea of what your current vascular health is and if there are any abnormalities in your circulatory system. Our diagnostic ultrasound testing can help determine any underlying causes of your symptoms and aid our medical team in choosing the best course of treatment for you.

Located in Fort Myers, Florida, The Vein Center is led by Dr. Eliot Hoffman. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and find out if you are a candidate for a diagnostic ultrasound.

What is a Diagnostic Ultrasound?

In order to prescribe the best treatment for your vascular condition, a diagnostic ultrasound may first be necessary in order to get an accurate image of your circulatory system. This type of testing can help our medical team determine several details about your vascular health, including:

  • Whether any blockages are present in the vessels
  • The development of any blood clots
  • How efficiently the blood is flowing through vessels

Ultrasound technology has been used in several areas of medicine for the past 50 years. By moving a handheld device over the outside of the body, this method of testing produces high-resolution imagery of what is happening in underlying tissues without any discomfort to the patient. A gel is typically applied to the skin so that the device can slide over the skin with ease without causing any surface irritation, and patients can typically see what is happening inside their bodies in real time via the high-tech imagery system.

How Does Diagnostic Ultrasound Work?

Ultrasound involves sound waves that are emitted through a handheld probe into the skin, bypassing the surface without any discomfort. The sound waves then bounce back to a transducer, which converts the waves into images on a computer system. This method shows the structure and movement of the circulatory system in real time and does not use any radiation.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Diagnostic Ultrasound?

During your consultation at The Vein Center, your overall health, medical history and individual condition will be evaluated to determine if a diagnostic ultrasound is necessary. Prior to your testing, our medical team will provide you with any instructions on how to prepare and what you can expect.

Contact The Vein Center today to schedule a consultation with our medical team and find out how a diagnostic ultrasound can help determine the health and functionality of your circulatory system.
