At The Vein Center, we offer several minimally-invasive treatments to clear bulging varicose veins from the skin, including laser ablation. This advanced vein removal technique utilizes gentle laser energy to permanently seal targeted veins without surgery or downtime.
Located in Fort Myers, Florida, The Vein Center is led by Dr. Eliot Hoffman. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and find out if you are a candidate for a laser ablation procedure. Our friendly staff will teach you about vein compression, spider and varicose vein removal.
What is Laser Ablation?
One of the most modern techniques for removing varicose veins safely and comfortably, laser ablation involves many a small point of entry in the skin and inserting a thin laser fiber through a catheter tube. The incision typically does not require a suture and does not leave visible scarring. Patients may feel slight pressure as the laser fiber is moved into the affected vein, but this procedure is typically well-tolerated.
Using ultrasound imagery, our medical team will ensure that the laser fiber is in the optimal position in the targeted vein. A pulse of controlled laser energy is then emitted from the fiber, which converts into heat and gently closes the vein. The vein then permanently seals off, redirecting blood to healthier veins and improving overall blood flow from the lower extremities back up to the heart. Over the course of a few weeks, the treated veins are then naturally removed by the body.
Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Ablation?
Men and women who have medium to large varicose veins and who are seeking a minimally-invasive treatment to have them removed may qualify for laser ablation. During your consultation with our medical team, factors such as your health, medical history, vascular condition and treatment preferences will be discussed in order to determine if laser ablation is right for you. Certain types of varicose veins may not qualify for this procedure, and our medical team will find the best course of treatment to give you optimal results.
Is There Any Recovery Time?
Incisions made during this procedure typically require no aftercare, and any bruising or soreness that may be experienced after laser ablation is minimal and usually subsides shortly after treatment. Most patients return to normal activities quickly after this procedure, but more strenuous activities may need to be avoided during the healing process. Adopting a daily walking regimen and wearing compression stockings may be recommended after treatment in order to maintain good circulation and reduce the risk of developing more varicose veins in the future.
Contact The Vein Center today to schedule a consultation and find out how minimally-invasive laser ablation can help permanently remove your varicose veins without extensive surgery or downtime.
